Did you survive the holidays? Me? Just barely.

I did receive this very nice Christmas card from a fabulous client.

Where do you find cards like this??? This is so special. Thank you so very much! And thank you to all of my clients who gave me such wonderful presents. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

For Christmas, we spent a few days in San Antonio, Texas. Yes, that means mexican food on a daily basis.

By the end of our visit, I only wanted a salad. The food in Texas is so good. Yes, so good that we brought back two dozen tamales and two dozen tortillas.

Did I enjoy Christmas? Yes I did. Talk about a Christmas party.

You can just see me on the upper right hand side of the photo. My husband has a slightly large family. I gave and received MANY presents. Santa was good to me.

Back in Memphis, on New Years day, we headed south to Tunica. Time to win some money. At Sams Town we did not do well. We switched to Resorts next to Hollywood and my husband won $160 in a matter of minutes. As soon as he won, he showed me the amount on his cash ticket and said his work was done. He paid for my lunch buffet. That was a good start to 2014. I hope you had a great Christmas and a great New Year.

Painting Nails, Shopping, Christmas Season, Texas, Mexican Food

What a wonderfully hectic holiday season. I have worked hard to be able to get in as many clients as possible today. I am so sorry if I couldn’t get some of you in. I have the best clients and friends ever!!! Oh you can make me laugh!  It has been fun having some ladies go out on a limb and try some really different colors for their nails.  I’ve been seeing some glitter ladies. Sparkle time.

Shopping for family and fighting the holiday traffic. What a week. We had a great time at the Master Design party. Cocktails and

hors d’ oeuvres  at River Oaks Grill. What wonderful food we had. This holiday season I am having some fun times going to dinner with our good friends.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Bring on those hectic days. Then it is Christmas in Texas for the husband and I.

The Cult Memphis 2013, The Alamo, Molly’s Memphis, Margarita’s, San Antonio Mexican Food

How was your weekend ladies? I had a fabulous time out with my husband and friend at a show here in Memphis.

Our Sunday evening began at Local on the Square for dinner. After sharing a burger with my husband, we set off for Molly’s. Those margaritas are so good at Molly’s. I ordered a regular margarita and a top shelf margarita. By the way, the “mango” margarita’s are no longer served. Did I mention I love margarita’s?

And wine. I love wine as well. After a couple of margaritas, it was time to see The Cult at Minglewood Hall. The band played the album “Electric”. My husband was in heaven, singing along to his favorite songs.

Christmas is nearly here ladies. Have you finished all of your Christmas shopping yet? I am nearly finished with my shopping. Just a few more days at work and then we are off to Texas for Christmas with the family.

And the best reason to return to San Antonio? Mexican food.

Some of my favorite places to eat in San Antonio? Blanco Cafe, Mexican Manhattan, Los Barrios, Rosario’s (excellent!) & Taco Cabana. Christmas calories do not count, right?

Memphis Ice Storm, The Memphis Growler, The Hunger Games Catching Fire, Aldo’s Pizza, Sister Act Musical

Hello ladies. Are you warm enough. It is cold outside!

Yes, I worked Friday and Saturday. My husband drove me to work both days so I would not have to worry about the ice. And Saturday was very busy for me. This time of year is very busy for salons. Make sure to make your appointment ahead of time in order to get an appointment with me because I get booked up; 901-685-2351.

Ladies, if you like to drink beer (and I know there are some of you here in Memphis that do) there is a new place to find beer in Cooper Young. The Growler Store has opened right next to House of Mews.

You can buy a growler of beer (1/2 gallon) or you can buy only a pint if you want. The best thing is that the store sells all of the Memphis beers; High Cotton, Wiseacre, Ghost River and Memphis Made beers plus regional beers as well. Need a Christmas present for your man? Beer makes a great present. Go purchase him a growler of love. Nothing says “I love you” more than a growler of beer.

My husband purchased me some cider (Angry Orchard). Thank you very much.

Today we went to the movies at Studio on the Square. I saw The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Although the film started slow, the movie quickly picked up the pace. I enjoyed the movie.

To end the evening, I met some friends at Aldo’s Pizza downtown. My friends had an extra ticket to see the musical Sister Act at the theater. First dinner, then a show. We ordered garlic knots (very good) and pizza and a salad. Everything tasted good. By the time we finished dinner it was time for the show. And what a show it was. I really enjoyed Sister Act.

Thanksgiving Turkey, Turkey Oven Bag, Desserts, Wireless Printer, Memphis Christmas Tree

Ladies. Did we survive Thanksgiving? Did we survive Black Friday? Did we shop? I know I survived and shopped.

We spent our Thanksgiving day at a friend’s house. She supplied the turkey and I cooked it. This year we cooked the turkey with a turkey oven bag. Guess what? It worked. The oven bag cooks the turkey faster and keeps the turkey juicy. I was worried about using the cooking bag for the first time, but everything turned out fine. Add some flour to the bag, place the turkey inside, cut a few small holes in the bag, and cook. That is it. The 17 pound turkey only took three hours to cook. Perfect. I whipped up some mashed potatoes for dinner, packed everything up, and headed to the Thanksgiving party.

There was so much food at the party. Green beans, sweet potatoes, gravy, ham, rolls, turkey, and mashed potatoes. We all had more than enough to eat. Then there was the dessert. Strawberry cake

chocolate cake and carrot cake. All of that food just makes we want to go to the gym. I am just glad Thanksgiving is only once a year.

Black Friday. We needed a new “wireless” printer. And I found one. For $50, this Canon printer prints from my iPad.

The set up took a few minutes, but my husband had the printer up and running in no time. Once you supply the network password, you are all set to print. This is so much easier than using the old desktop computer and the old printer. (I am sure there are many of us with an old, unused desktop computer sitting on a desk that goes unused after we purchase a laptop or tablet.)

Saturday night, we provided transportation to a friend so she would not have to drink and drive. While picking her up, I took a picture of the Christmas tree. Care to guess where this picture was taken in Memphis?

Memphis College of Art Bazaar, Shoes, Cafe Eclectic

Are YOU ready for Thanksgiving? You had better be, it is right around the corner.

Last Friday we attended the Memphis College of Art Bazaar.

We arrived at 6:00 p.m. promptly. The only problem? So did many others. You can attend the preview party one hour earlier at a cost of $20 per person. This may be the better way to go next year. I would rather have a nice look around at the art without having to bump into so many others who are doing the same thing as I am. I told my husband the presale party may be the way to go next year. And the money goes to go good cause as well.

After the bazaar, we drove over to Cafe Eclectic (N. McLean location) for dinner. You can read my review at Urbanspoon.com or the previous blog post.

I thought the fish in the fish and chips dish was some of the best fish in town. The potatoes needed more work though.

Choose901 has been running a question via Twitter. “What are you thankful for?” Me? I am thankful for this wonderful city we live in, the great choices of restaurants we have to go to, my family and friends too. And shoes.

Don’t forget the shoes. I am thankful for shoes.

Memphis College of Art Holiday Bazaar, Choose901 T-Shirts, Crazy Things in Your Walls

Only two more days of the work week ladies. I thought I would post about an event coming up shortly. The Memphis College of Art Holiday Bazaar takes place this Friday and Saturday. We go every year. If you want to see art, there is plenty of art for you. Prepare yourself for the crowds as well.

Plenty of art, plenty of people. Don’t worry, there are many price ranges to choose from.

My husband purchased another t-shirt from Choose901. Today he was able to buy the High Cotton beer t-shirt. So far he has bought four different t-shirts from Choose901 this week. I already have my t-shirt:

La Michoacana, Choose 901 T-Shirts

Ah, the weekend ladies. It sure was windy today. This afternoon we went by one of the best ice cream parlors in town; La Michoacana. My husband is addicted to the melon – chamoy fruit cups.

The fruit cup is made of chamoy (salty, spicy, sweet jelly), lemon and chili with frozen melon. The dish is delicious. Yum. Need more evidence that the place is good, check Urbanspoon. 98% of people like the place.

The Choose 901 shirts went on sale again today. At 5:00 p.m. you can get the password for the store from Twitter or Facebook if you friend Choose 901. Then the battle starts for t-shirts. My husband purchased the Ghost River shirt for $5. I purchased the Greenline shirt for him for $8. By early evening every single shirt was sold out. If you didn’t get your shirt, you have four more days to purchase one. But do not hesitate. These shirts sell rather quickly.

Wiseacre Brewery, Coffee Milk Stout, Luzme, Choose901 Neighborhood T-Shirts

Let the weekend begin! It is about time. Friday night we headed over to Wiseacre Brewery with a friend. The brewery was full of happy beer drinkers. My husband and friend ordered beers. The newest beer at the brewery is Coffee Milk Stout. My husband says the beer is very, very good. My friend agreed with him. Coffee Milk Stout tastes like coffee, or beer, or both.
